In
the early morning of a comfortable day, an elf of unusual stature
entered The Shady Dragon Inn. He would slip in with ease, working his
best to stay out of the way of the barmaids and other patrons who worked
eagerly to prepare for the coming hours of the day. The signs of age and travel told tales upon his worn leather gear and tattered cloak, even going so far as to show the leaves in his very hair. As he passed he even offered to aid some of the patrons in their preparations, setting up tables and chairs as an extra hand. Soon enough the work was done, and he found himself a nice spot in the corner, setting his gear and packs upon the table in a mildly organized manner. The elf remained as a reserved figure within the inn, watching as the people came and went, occasionally striking conversation with the same elven barmaid as she passed. After several moments, she finally came and sat with him, bringing a wide smile to the elf's otherwise neutral face. The two spoke for some time, idly chatting about their commonalities and their homeland of Kelethin. The druid spoke of his adventures by the barmaid's request, but he didn't seem too keen to let loose too much information. Whether he was being humble or secretive, it would be difficult to pick out. After some time of talking, and with the Inn's crowd growing in size, the barmaid readied herself to return to work, starting with the simple question she meant to ask to begin with.
" Is there something you'd like to drink then...?" She spoke smoothly as most elves do, but the tone of curiosity caught her customer's ears.
"Water, if you don't mind. I'm not very keen on ales and spirits." His smile held as she stood up to get his drink, and his hand rose to stop her for a moment. "Helent'arn Aleskan... But most just call me Hex."
The barmaid smiled at Hex and he returned it in kind, watching her walk away before leaning back into his seat and sighing contently, turning his head towards the nearby window to watch the morning sun rise.
