* The Necromancer watched as the last hints of light were chased from the sky by the approaching evening.Taking a seat on a stump he built a fire just big anough to heat up a few rations to settle his growling stomach. He threw a couple of his rations to his pet who quickly went to gnawing on the offering.*
I know you would rather have some fresh meat Gobantik but this will have to do for now. When you finish eating take guard .
*He told his pet in the low monotone voice that Erudites were known for. The pet replied with a nod and took up a guard spot as it munched on the last of the ration. Looking around from his vantage point on a small ridge overlooking a meandering river,he followed the river to a bend in the distance, just beyond a bend in the river he noticed a faint glow on the water.*
A village or maybe a castle?Might be worth a closer look.If it is maybe they will have real food instead of these rations,if I am even allowed to enter
*He thought to himself as he continued to focus on the glow on the water.Erudites for the most part were not welcome in to many places other than their home city, and he knew this all to well.On more than one occasion he had been 'required' leave a city due to his race, much less his class. For some reason Necromancers were not liked very well....Taking a water flask he doused the small fire he had made and headed towards the glow.
After a couple of hours he finally rounded the bend and before him a gated village and castle stood just across the river from where he stood.Making his way to the bridge he turned to head across it and to the city gates. As he approached the gates two guards crossed their spears and asked himto identify himself and state his business*
I am Lazrid Anarion of Knights of Fury guild.I am in need of a hot meal and a soft bed for the night.I will be on my way tomorrow at first light.
* The guards looked him over for a minute and stepped aside allowing him to pass. One of them pointed down the main street and told him where the tavern was located.Lazrid bowed slightly and thanked them as he made his way through teh gates and down the street. The Necromancer would give those he met a small nod and continue on his way to what he was hoping would be a good meal and a soft bed.
After a few minutes the lights of the tavern came into view just where the guards had said.A faint smile crossed his lips as he was almost surprised to find out the guards had given him accurate information.
Lazrid walked in to the tavern and took a seat near a huge fireplace and he leaned his staff against the edge of the mantel as so it would not fall or get burned by the flames that were rolling and popping in the fireplace
After taking his seat he looked to his side and there was his faithful pet Gobantik,he told the pet to head back out of town and find a place to bed for the night and he would summon him if needed, the pet nodded and headed back outside and slinked into the darkness.
He hadnt been seated but for a couple of minutes before the barmaid came to him and asked him what he would like to have
A small smile broke across his lips and he replied*
Whatever the house special is for a meal and the largest mug of ale you have please
* The barmaid told him she would return in a minute with his ale and bring his food as soon as it was ready.Lazrid nodded and leaned back in his seat and streched to try to shake off the road before rubbing his tired ice blue eyes before taking a look around the tavern.
Above the mantel of the fireplace was the guilds coat of arms, around the tavern walls were paintings of members both past and present that had earned the right to take their place of promince.
before he could take it all in the barmaid returned with his plate and placed it before him, taking a few gold pieces from his money pouch he gave them to her ,she bowed slightly and headed back to her other duties.
Lazrid took in the smell of the stew that was brought to him and he said to himself as he picked up the fork and knife and started to dig in*
This is going to be alot better than my last so called meal
