Friday nights are a good time for many of us, so we are going to organize Hunts every Friday. I will normally be the leader, but we have others to step in when I'm not available. We can thus assure any and all interested Sigils and friends of company and productive efforts every Friday night.
Goals will be focused around who, and how many, attend. The major focus will be on doing things we can't do alone, or with a partial group. Slow nights we'll do group tasks, progressions, and raid flagging. When we've got the numbers and power, we'll do small raids, going after things like flags, augments, epics, and gear for soulmates or ourselves. Exact goals will vary each Friday night - I'll try to tailor it to the people on-hand. You can count on a lot of variety, and don't hesitate to put in your own special requests, too!
Formal guidelines are below. This should answer most questions people might have.
Thanks,
Shalkai
Who may sign up and attend? - Any Sigils, and any friends of Sigils.
- Anyone signed up is guaranteed a spot. Attendance is not dependent on digging around and posting in the forums days in advance, though. People who don't sign up because they aren't sure they can come, or who don't hear about until an announcement in the Portal, are equally welcome. Last minute attendees are also welcome, and would only be turned away if raid number limits are reached. (Hah, like that ever happens) Even late arrivals will be accomodated when possible, as long as the delay to the whole raid to stop or backtrack would not be excessive.
- Friends of Sigils is meant to be VERY inclusive. It means, basically, anyone who knows a Sigil, or knows Sigils as a guild, and wants to spend some time with us. Someone who's been hanging out and chatting in Portal a bit? Fine. Someone who met a Sigil in a random group yesterday and wants to tag along? Fine. Some old friend of yours just returning to the game? Fine. Still not sure if someone qualifies? Just ask me, or an assistant raid leader. The answer will almost certainly be yes. I prefer to include anyone who is interested whenever possible.
- Friends of Sigils also includes anyone from the guilds we hold as friends, such as Norrathian Knights, Ridgerunners, and Fortress of Honor.
Conduct expected during the raid? - Civil behavior, and being in-character as much as practical.
- Civil behavior should be pretty clear, but, basically, it means relax, have fun, and be nice to everyone else. No insulting people, no whining about not getting something, no bragging about your gear, or other classless stuff like that. People who cause strife or disruptions will get a talking to. If they don't fix their ways, they'll be kicked from the raid. Basically, refer to the Golden Rule.
- Staying In-Character *as much as practical* means different things for different people. For Sigils, I would expect them to be IC a majority of the time. If you're new to our little circle then try to stay in your character as best you can, as much or as little as that might be. We are not the RP police. No judgements will be made, no RP standards will be enforced. Sigils emphasize roleplaying, and fostering an RP environment. Just RP to the best of your ability and comfort level. We won't be 100% RP anyway, just because that isn't practical on raids.
Loot rules? - Every player attending may roll on anything usable, most of the time. (see only exception in point two, below).
- Raid leader or assistants will announce randoms for each item. Pay attention, the range used for each item will be announced, and will often differ from one item to the next.
- For some raids, usually epic-related, Sigils and the raid leader *may choose* to reserve a single item up front for a deserving person. If there is to be an item reserved, this will be announced ahead of time. All other items would still be rolled on by each player who can use them.
- Once you win one "top" item, you may not roll for another, unless everyone else who can use that next item has also won something.
- Players who dual-comp may roll for ONE of their characters per item. They may choose which of their characters rolls separately for each item.
- General loot notes: Sigils raids are not about "opening the chest". Sigils raids are for a large group (12+ people) to gather, have fun, and try to do something challenging together. Any goodies that are acquired should be considered as a happy bonus to the real goal, above. If you happen to lose the roll, be happy for the person who won it. As long as someone needy got it, the raid was not only successful, it received an extra reward as well.
- Not all raids will succeed in getting good treasure. The items found might not be useful. The raid might be so difficult it fails completely. These things happen, though not often. If they do, smile and enjoy the attempt, because that is all we can guarantee - the chance to attempt new challenges. If you hanker for guaranteed 'phat lewt' then seek elsewhere, please.
Raid Leaders -
In order to keep continuity and ensure that we have *something* going every Friday night, we'll be rotating the Hunt Leader baton. Karilis, Kanolth, Enokhaon, and Matthyas are people who have been instrumental to the success of previous adventures, and their advice and knowledge is an invaluable resource. I trust them and depend on them, and they are implicitly assistants on every Friday Hunt. Never hesitate to turn to them for advice and knowledge, if I am busy or unavailable.
I will continue to lead most Friday hunts, probably 3 times a month or so. On the Fridays I'm not available, we'll ask Kanolth, Karilis, Enokhaon, Matthyas, or some other experienced leader to step in.
