Details
Third
Thursday
Ales & Tales continues! This is a simple in-character gathering at a
tavern or inn (the venue will change monthly) for adventurers of
appropriate faction to
hang out, relax, and share "ales and tales" with one another. This is a
"drop in" type of party; you may arrive and leave whenever you
wish, and while it is called "Ales & Tales", it is not required that you perform if you attend. You may simply come to listen
and enjoy; however, everyone is welcome and encouraged to share a story with the group. ![]()
Since
"Ales & Tales" will normally take place in a tavern, we do need to patronize our host establishment.
Thus, you'll need to bring a few plat
for your drinks as it'll be a cash bar primarily. (Please be aware that
faction may be an issue for buying and selling due to the mindsets of
the
tavernkeepers.) However, some specialty foods and drinks will probably
be offered by Sigils bakers and brewers, and a "potluck" would be
great--anyone with culinary talents who wishes to whip up a batch of
something to share is most welcome to bring it and dish it out!
Please note that faction has been mentioned a couple of times already. If you are KoS in the Ales & Tales location, please bring a character who is not KoS or take peaceful measures (e.g.--invisibility, illusion, etc.) to insure that you will not be attacked that do NOT include slaughtering townsfolk, jeopardizing the faction of other attendees, or disrupting the event with combat; this is supposed to be a night of relaxation, song, and stories. If this means that you cannot attend this particular Ales & Tales, please accept our apologies and be assured that the next Ales & Tales will be held in a different location--hopefully one that your character is able to visit safely.
Communication
- Performances are to be conducted in /say
- General conversation can be in /say if no one is performing
- If someone is performing, please lower your voices (i.e.-take conversations to /g or /t )
- Openly /emoted reactions during the performance are welcome and encouraged!
- /join SigilsInfo for questions about the host guild
Rules of Behavior
- This is a social, conversational event, not a free-for-all kegger to raise your AT. Spamming the group by chugging down huge quantities of alcohol at once is rude and disruptive, as is staggering around and spouting incomprehensibly slurred chatter. Feel free to eat, drink, and enjoy yourselves, but please be respectful of others while you do.
- Please remain in-character to the best of your ability. OOC discussions should be kept out of general /say channel. If you have never roleplayed before, just imagine yourself as your character rather than as someone sitting at a computer and playing a game; listen to fellow attendees to see examples of how it is done. Then jump right in!
- When performing a song or story, please be careful if you choose to hotkey your presentation. Set up the hotkeys well in advance and TEST them before you try them out publicly. Often it is simply a better choice to type in your text as normal.
Supplies Needed
- Bakers
and Brewers! Food/Drinks -- "Emerald Isle" theme would be nice!
- Any props you might need to perform your tale/song
Sign Up
Please indicate:
- The time you expect to arrive,
- Whether you intend to perform something,
- And if you plan to bring any special snacks or drinks to hand out.
Thanks!
Special Note to the Sigils: At least three Sigils who sign up should prepare a piece to share, as our guests may be shy and/or desire examples of the kind of performances we're talking about. I emphasize "at least" three; if more than three Sigils are willing to perform, all the better, and of course everyone is encouraged to do so, Sigil or not!
