Posting Etiquette
This goes for everyone, Sigils and non-Sigils alike. Please be aware of these rules.
1. The threads in this forum take place outside the Sigils' Sanctum. This forum represents the rest of the world in which our EverQuest Live characters live--Norrath, Luclin, the Planes, etc. This forum does not represent any other world (earth, Azeroth, EQ2, etc.). This is not a forum for fan fiction of other games or other worlds; we're EQ1 players who play characters in the world of EverQuest. Please keep it located in our "reality."
2. Please realize that every time you engage in a story, you are making an impact in a character's development. Please do not be disruptive in these stories. Some of these stories are open for anyone to join, and some are not. Some are somewhat scripted, and some are totally improvised. As a rule, we take our stories seriously, as even forum-stories represent "real" or "canonical" events that shape our characters. Thus, before you post in someone else's thread, you should do these things:
3. Occasionally, a thread may be posted with the tagline "Open" in the thread title. This means that there are no restrictions on who may participate in it; anyone is welcome to post without prior contact with the thread's creator. Do not, however, assume this is the case unless that "Open" is in the title.
4. When posting in another person's thread, do not presume to speak or act for their character(s), even in the most minor or "obvious" ways; if you do, you are limiting their responses and taking control of their character(s) away from them. Write so that they may choose their words and actions in response.
5. If you wish to start your own thread, feel free to do so! In that case, all the rules of #2 then apply in your protection of your story. It works both ways.
Happy writing!

Thus, before you post in someone else's thread, you should do these things:
- Read the thread you're considering contributing to. Make sure you have a good reason to be a part of it.
- Contact the person(s) playing the most important roles in the thread. When in doubt, look for who has made the most posts and/or the person who started the thread. Either of those is a good bet. You can contact them through Yuku Private Messaging easily enough, or ingame, or via email (ingame or personal, if you know it)--your choice.
- Ask if it would be okay for you to join that thread. Be prepared to answer questions about who you are, what part you see yourself playing in the story, etc.
- Accept the decision of the story's leaders. They may allow you to take part freely; they may ask that you participate in a limited way, contributing to a planned end; they may decline and explain that the story is a private one, only meant for the public to read but not participate in. That is their prerogative. If you don't like their judgment call, you don't have to participate in their story. Do not appeal to a "higher authority" to make them take you; it won't happen. Each thread leader is High Lord and Master of their characters' story. The same goes for you in your own threads.
